The AISA office received an official notice from The Marion Schools today, July 30, 2007 informing  that the Marion Schools WILL NOT be able to field a football team the 2007 season.

PLEASE TAKE NOTE OF THE FOLLOWING IMPORTANT PROPOSALS/POLICIES FROM THE JULY 11, 2007 ATHLETIC COMMITTEE MEETING:  "If the Football season is cancelled seven (7) days after the first practice date according to the AISA Calendar of Events, schools will not have to forfeit or pay forfeiture fines.”  “If a football open date is not filled after a school’s football season is cancelled, a forfeiture fee must be paid.”

The following Proposals from the Coaches’ Association concerning Termite, Pee Wee, and Junior High Football were presented to and accepted by the Athletic Committee on August 16, 2006—motion was made and seconded to accept proposals:
PROPOSAL NO.1:   TERMITE PEE WEE FOOTBALL

    • Six minute quarters following National Federation guidelines.
    • Eight minute halftime.
    • Pre-Game warm-ups are completed by the end of the preceding game on a field (varsity practice or baseball) provided by the home team.
    • Starting times are as follows: 5:00 for Termites, 6:00 for Pee Wee and 7:00 for Junior High. Other starting times may be agreed upon by the 2 schools. For example, Pee Wee at 5:30 and Junior High at 7:00.
    • Weight limits should be monitored and adhered to as listed in the AISA Handbook.  It is recommended that the home team provide a set of scales.

      PROPOSAL NO.2:   JUNIOR HIGH

    • Eight minute quarters following National Federation guidelines.
    • Eight minute halftime.
    • All phases of the kicking game are mandatory. A forfeit will be awarded if one team refuses to do so.
    • Pre-Game warm ups should be completed on a field provided by the home team.
    • Certain aspects of the kicking game may be modified if agreed upon by the two coaches.  For example, no live punt rush unless there is a bad snap with a mandatory fair catch by the receiving team. Coaches should be sure this is clear with the officials.
