BLUE RIBBON SCHOOL

A BLUE RIBBON school exemplifies excellence in teaching, student performance, school life, and school and community interaction. A BLUE RIBBON award winner is an excellent school involved in an on-going process of school improvement. The Alabama Independent School Association awards a BLUE RIBBON to schools that meet and/or exceed the following criteria.

CRITERIA

  1. Accredited by the Alabama Independent School Association.
  2. All professional staff meeting or exceeding the AISA professional criteria.
  3. SAT performance meets and/or exceeds the AISA Complete Battery average in grades 2, 5, 7, and 9; and/or AISA Complete Battery average is higher than the school's ability score in grades 2, 5, 7, and 9; and/or AISA Complete Battery overall average score is higher than the school's local ability overall average score.
  4. Extra-Curricular opportunities in:
    1. Academic competition
    2. Athletic competition
    3. Arts competition
    4. Clubs and organizations
    5. Community Service

   5.  Physical Appearance of School (Buildings and Grounds)

   6.  There are no existing priorities from the accreditation visit.

   7.  No sanctions have been placed on the school within the past twelve months.

   8.  On-going process of school improvement.

   9.  All applications are due by the end of AISA's 1st Semester.

        Due date:  No later than January 7, 2002

NOTE: The Blue Ribbon Award is valid only for the school year in which it was earned.
