ADMINISTRATION NOTES

AISA ACADEMIC PROGRAMS DIRECTOR:

AISA SECRETARY:

BACKGROUND CHECKS:
Background checks are required on all new employees with unsupervised exposure to children. Call the ASIA office if you have any questions.

ASBESTOS:
Headmasters, check your Asbestos File for current status.  You should have a copy of a current three (3) year report and/or an asbestos-free statement of file.  If you need to update your Asbestos Management Planner status call 1-877-508-7246 for a schedule of in-service programs.

ACCREDITATION WORKSHOP:
Attention:  Headmasters, Administrators, and Curriculum Coordinators An Accreditation Workshop will be held on Wednesday, September 13, 2000, 10:00-2:00, in the Stallworth Dining Room in Russell Hall.  Lunch will be provided.  This workshop will cover the Accreditation Handbook, the role of the visiting team, and issues pertaining to accreditation visits.  If you desire to serve on a visiting team or are scheduled to serve on a visiting team, you  need to attend.

School Calendars for 2000-2001
are due in the AISA office now.

Professional Personnel Reports
are due in the AISA office as early in September as possible.

School Directory Information
is due in the AISA office immediately.  We must have this info to develop our directory.

SGA STATE OFFICERS AND DISTRICT REPS:
There will be a SGA planning meeting for the September 19th SGA workshop on Thursday, August 31, 10:00 a.m., in the AISA office.

COUNCIL MEETING WILL BE HELD IN THE AISA OFFICE ON SEPTEMBER 6, AT 10:00 A.M.

ADMINISTRATIVE COORDINATORS FOR DISTRICT COMPETITION:
We need to receive information concerning district academic competition, leadership, and district competition sites, as soon as possible.  Forms were provided to you at the annual meeting.

REMINDER TO SCHOOLS VISITED FOR AISA ACCREDITATION IN 1999-2000:

Some schools that were visited for accreditation in 1999-2000 have provided documentation to clear Priorities and written responses to the Recommendations of the Visiting Committee; however, many schools have not yet provided responses and documentation.  Priorities must be cleared and responses to Recommendations must be provided by August 31, 2000.

ORATORICAL CONTESTS
:
District Contests are scheduled for November 2, and the State contest will be held on November 9. This year's topic is: "The Impact of TECHNOLOGY on The American Family." We anticipate great participation.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT DAY UPDATE: 
"Continuing the Tradition of Excellence in the New Millennium" is the theme selected by the Professional Development Day Planning Committee for this year's conference on Monday, October 2, 2000. The Committee and Teacher Leaders met recently under the leadership of Mrs. Barbara Lindsey, Chairperson, to finalize plans for the "Big Day" on October 2. Dr. Wanda Bigham, President of Huntingdon College, will give the keynote address.  Planning Committee will meet on September 7, at 10:00 a.m. in the Large Private Dining Hall, Huntingdon College.  Teacher leaders are asked to meet with the committee at 11:00 a.m.  Registration materials will be sent to all schools next week.  Please return registration form by September 7.

ATTENTION:
HELP!
Name the Football Championship CONTEST. We need an "eye-catching" name for our Football Championship - Triple-Header to be held at Troy State University on November 17, 2000. Fax or E-mail suggestions to the AISA office by August 25, 2000. The winning entry will receive four (4) tickets to the game.

ATHLETIC DIRECTORS:
Fill out the AISA Directory for Athletics by September 1.  If you do not have one, we will send it to you.

ATTENTION ATHLETIC COMMITTEE:
The Athletic Committee is scheduled to meet in the AISA office at 10:00 a.m. on September 6, 2000.

ADMISSION PRICES:
The following are AISA  maximum gate prices:
Varsity Football - $4.00/person
Below Varsity Football - $2.00/person
Volleyball - $2.00/person

ATTENTION AISA EMPLOYEES:
AISA member school employees may join our sports official's ranks for football.  If interested, contact the AISA office for specifics.

FOOTBALL DROP GAME:
Coach, if you have a ten (10) game schedule, then you must designate one (1) non-region game as a drop game.  Reference rule V-C-1, page 26 of your current AISA Athletic Handbook.  Your response must be in writing to the AISA office by August 23, 2000.  Call if you have questions.

ATTENTION FOOTBALL COACHES/AD'S:
a. Get your scrimmage and/or jamboree sanctioned
b. Review all game contracts
c. Review your athletic insurance program
d. Implement the AISA Risk Management Program - page 77 of your AISA Athletic Handbook
e. Insure all of your coaches through NFICA

FOOTBALL/VOLLEYBALL ELIGIBILITY:
Varsity football and volleyball eligibility lists are due in the AISA office by August 21, 2000.  A $100.00 fine will be levied on schools not meeting this deadline.

The AISA office must be notified immediately in writing by the receiving school of any student - athlete transferring in from a member school. (Item 10, Letter e, page 12 Athletic Handbook).

ATTENTION SOFTBALL COACHES:
The AISA will use the yellow softball with high seams for the next two years.

VOLLEYBALL GAMES NEEDED:
Warrior Academy is beginning a Volleyball Team for the 2000-2001 school year.  They have the following dates open:  8/29 and 31; 9/5, 7, 12, 14, 19, 21, 26, and 28; and 10/3, 5, 10, and 12.  Warrior would also be interested in one or two tournaments and would be willing to accommodate a tri-match on some occasions.  Contact Leslie Emory (205) 652-7443 (home) or (205) 652-9583 (work) or Warrior Academy at (205) 372-3546 or FAX (205) 652-2696 to schedule games.  Email:  lemory@sumternet.com.

Macon-East Montgomery Academy needs a junior varsity football game on September 5.  Call Glynn Lott at Macon-East Montgomery if your school needs a game on this date.

ATTENTION FOOTBALL COACHES/AD'S:
a. First day of organized varsity football practice - July 31, 2000.
B. First 5 days of practice - no contact drills.
c. Get your scrimmage and/or jamboree sanctioned.
d. Review your varsity schedule for errors.
E. Contact the AISA office if any changes are made in your varsity schedule.
F. See you July 21st at the Governors House Hotel, Montgomery.

ATTENTION COACHES:
New Life Christian is not eligible for 2000-2001 play-offs, but will participate in Class AA East Area I in Basketball, Baseball, and Softball.

ATTENTION BASEBALL COACHES:
Taylor Road Academy needs baseball games.  Contact Nick Madalonni at (334) 273-8845.

FOOTBALL COACHES:
Mail your drop-game to the AISA office before your first regular season game. If you have an open date, New Life or IMS, or a school on your schedule that is not an AISA member, then this will be your drop game. (Page 26, Athletic Handbook)

PHYSICAL EXAMINATION FOR ALL AISA ATHLETES/CHEERLEADERS:
Refer to Physical Exam Form and Medical History Form in the Appendix of your AISA Athletic Handbook. Call the AISA office if you have questions.
