PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT DAY UPDATE:
"Continuing the Tradition of Excellence in the New Millennium" is the theme selected by the Professional Development Day Planning Committee for this year's conference on Monday, October 2, 2000. The Committee had an excellent meeting recently under the leadership of Mrs. Barbara Lindsey, Chairperson. Dr. Wanda Bigham, President of Huntingdon College, will give the keynote address. Planning Committee will meet on September 7, at 10:00 a.m. in the Large Private Dining Hall, Huntingdon College. Teacher leaders are asked to meet with the committee at 11:00 a.m.

Professional Personnel Reports are due in the AISA office as early in September as possible.

LESSON PLANNING: A TOP PRIORITY:
In considering ways to continue to improve our AISA schools, specific and detailed lesson planning has surfaced as a need with many teachers. The routine planning to address objectives (general lesson and specific SAT) and the careful preparation to teach content and skills to attain the objectives must receive priority attention, if higher levels of excellence are attained in our schools. AISA is recommending that loose-leaf binders be used for lesson plans instead of the planning books with the small blocks of spaces for plans. A suggested Lesson Plan Format was
enclosed with the LINK of June 26. Please consider seriously the use of this or a similar format at your school this year. With consistency and specificity in planning (including careful attention to SAT skills), learning should increase, and test scores should rise!
