REMINDER TO SCHOOLS VISITED FOR AISA ACCREDITATION IN 2001-2002:
Some schools that were visited for accreditation in 2001-2002 have provided documentation to clear Priorities and written
responses to the Recommendations of the Visiting Committee; however, many schools have not yet provided responses
and documentation.  Priorities must be cleared and responses to Recommendations must be provided by August 30, 2002.

2002-2003 CALENDARS ARE REQUESTED:
Please supply the AISA office with a copy of your school calendar now.

ATTENTION HEADMASTERS!!
Annual State Registration Due.  If you have not returned your Annual Registration of Private Schools to the State Department
of Education do so now.  All AISA schools must be registered.  If you need a copy of the form call the AISA @ 334-263-9115.

Three schools emerged from strong competition to win the coveted Presidents' Award in Class A, AA, and AAA in AISA for 2001-2002.

ACADEMIC NOTES

ADMINISTRATIVE COORDINATORS FOR DISTRICT COMPETITION:
We will need to receive information concerning district academic competition, leadership, and district competition sites,
as soon as possible.  Forms were provided to you at the annual meeting.  The nine districts are the same as last year. 

ORATORICAL CONTESTS:
This year's topic is: "9-11: The Aftermath".

SGA PLANNING MEETING - AUGUST 29, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. in the AISA Office / Huntingdon College, Massey Hall, 3rd Floor for 
State Officers and District Representatives.

ACCREDITATION / SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT PROCESS  WORKSHOP - SEPTEMBER 4, 2002 from 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. in the Stallworth Room located inside Russell Hall.  (Bring $5.00 if you desire lunch at 12:00)

*All schools who will be visited this year for accreditation need to have one person (administrator or Accreditation Chair to attend).

2002-2003 FOOTBALL SCHEDULE   REVISED August 19, 2002

ATHLETIC PASSES:

COACHES:  URGENT!
Insurance Forms were due August 15, 2002. 

ATHLETIC DIRECTORS:
Register your clock operator now.  The Officials Association will not have enough officials to send a clock
operator to your school.

ADMISSION PRICES:
The following are AISA maximum gate prices:
Varsity Football - $4.00/person
Below Varsity $3.00/person
All Sports $4.00

FOOTBALL ELIGIBILITY:
Varsity football and volleyball eligibility lists are due in the AISA office by August 19, 2002.  A $100.00 fine will levied on schools not meeting
this deadline. 

The AISA office must be notified immediately in writing by receiving school of any student-athlete transferring in from a member school.  (Item 10,
Letter e, page 19 Athletic Handbook).

CROSS COUNTRY:
DUE TO THE PARK BEING PREVIOUSLY BOOKED, THE CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIP MEET HAS BEEN MOVED FROM NOVEMBER 2, 2002 TO
OCTOBER 31, 2002 AT 3:30 p.m.  Escambia Academy will be hosting an invitational cross country championship meet at Municipal Park in Mobile on Thursday,
October 31, 2002, beginning at 3:30 p.m.  The meet will be run under the National High School standards.  The contact person will be Bert Rice at 251-294-0175.  Escambia, Cottage Hill, Faith, Tuscaloosa and Mobile Christian will be participating so-far in this meet.  If you are interested, call Bert Rice ASAP.

ATTENTION ATHLETIC COMMITTEE:
The Athletic Committee is scheduled to meet in the AISA office at 10:00 a.m. on August 21, 2002.

PHYSICAL EXAMINATION FOR ALL AISA ATHLETES/CHEERLEADERS:
Refer to Physical Exam Form and Medical History From in the Appendix of your AISA Athletic Handbook.
Call the AISA office if you have questions.

ATTENTION FOOTBALL COACHES:
a.  First day of organized varsity football practice - August 1, 2002
b.  First 5 days of practice - no contact drills.
c.  Get your scrimmage and/or jamboree sanctioned.
d.  Review your varsity schedule for errors.
e.  Contact the AISA office if any changes are made in your varsity schedule.
f.  See you July 18-19 at the Governors House Hotel, Montgomery. 

ATTENTION COACHES AND AD'S:
Association Ball Adoption

The AISA has officially adopted the following game alls for play in:

FOOTBALL:
TRIPLEHEADER CHAMPIONSHIPS AND ALL-STAR COMPETITION THROUGH 2003. NIKE 3005 NFHS.

ATTENTION ATHLETIC DIRECTORS AND COACHES:
An accredited correspondence course may be accepted by a school but must be completed and the final 
grade recorded by August 15.

ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS:
Students in grades 6, 7, and 8 must have passed the previous academic year and have been promoted to the next grade.
Tenth through twelfth grade students must have passed six (6) new Carnegie units during the previous academic year to be eligible for the first semester.  Note:  A minimum of four (4) core curriculum credits must be included in this requirement.  Read Page 12, 13, and 14 in your AISA Athletic Handbook for more details.

ATTENTION ATHLETIC DIRECTORS:
When you complete your Basketball, Baseball and Softball schedule for 2002-2003 you need to mail them to 
the AISA office.

The AISA has officially adopted the following balls for play in:

TENNIS:
Tennis Coaches Meeting:  September 10, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. in the AISA office to schedule games for 2003-2004.  

VOLLEYBALL:
The Final 4 Volleyball Tournament will be held on November 2, 2002.

ATTENTION SOCCER, BASEBALL, & SOFTBALL COACHES:

Trinity Christian of Opelika, AL would like to play soccer, Baseball and Softball schedules for
the 2002-2003 school year.  If you need games call Sharon Miller at 1-334-745-2464. 

Patrician Academy is hosting a Softball Tournament March 7-8, 2002.  If interested, call Coach Barr at 205-459-3266.
