ATTENTION:
The entire AISA Family is saddened by the sudden death of Colonel Tommy Murfee, Marion Military Institute Athletic Director, coach, teacher, faithful servant and committed AISA supporter.  Let's all give our support and condolences to his family as we keep them in our prayers.  In lieu of flowers please send donations to the Marion Military Athletic Trust Fund.

REMINDER TO DISTRICT SPELLING BEE HOSTS:
Please FAX the name and address of the pronouncer for your district spelling bee to Don Oswald at (334) 263-9195.  We must get the lists into pronouncer's hands before the Holidays.

Attention! AISA Hall of Fame
The AISA Hall of Fame Banquet and Induction Ceremony will be held on March 5, 2001 at the Civic Center in Montgomery. Nominees must be into the AISA Office by January 5, 2001. Call the AISA for an official Nomination Form. Let's support this excellent program. Recognize and honor your extraordinary leaders, alumni and/or contributors by placing their names in nomination.


ATTENTION HEADMASTERS:

I. Please list five (5) people who have provided extraordinary leadership and/or effort, which led to the positive development of your school (since its beginning.)

II. Please list at least five (5) of your most prominent alumni and their achievements and/or accomplishments.

The AISA Hall of Fame Committee is requesting this information. If available, please furnish addresses and phone numbers. Please be assured that this information will be kept in total confidence.

ATHLETIC DIRECTOR NOTES: 

ALL-STAR HIGHLIGHTS:
The banquet was great with 320 in attendance.  A special feature was the recognition and honoring of a past all-star, Dave Lyon, a Lowndes Academy all-star in 1968 and quarterback for Auburn University.  We are proud of you, your accomplishments, and that you represent the AISA with class.  The All-Star Dance/Drill Teams were excellent.  Thanks to Crenshaw Christian, Meadowview Christian, Morgan, and Springwood for super performances.  The All-Star Color Guard from Marion Military, under the direction of Col. Pullen was super.  The All-Star Cheerleaders were great.  Thanks to East All-Star Cheerleaders Sponsors Karim Oaks, Morgan Academy, and Alyson Smith, Hooper Academy, and to West All-Star Cheerleader Sponsors Lori Minor, Mobile Christian School, and Lisa Williams, Crenshaw Christian School.  The All-Star Game was great;  the competition was keen; and the East won by a 48-14 margin over the West.  The hospitality extended by the City of Selma was exceptional. Thanks to all of the AISA family for their involvement!  Special thanks to Meadowview Christian School for serving as host school and providing the many workers needed to put on this fine event.  A special commendation to Tommy Wasden and staff for a job well done.  Special thanks to Pepsi for serving as co-sponsor for this fine event.  A personal thank your to Pepsi of Selma leader, Cheyenne Bradford.

MOORE-STEWART FORD ALL-STAR CHEERLEADER SCHOLARSHIPS:
Congratulations to Mary Kathryn Speake, Lakeside School, East Winner, and to Mimi McFarland, Tuscaloosa Academy, on their selection as Winners of the Moore-Stewart Ford/Honda Motor Company of Selma All-Star Scholarships.  Thanks, Moore-Stewart and congratulations Mary Kathryn and Mimi.  We are proud of you!

ATTENTION COACHES! LAST GAME POLICY:
 
Schools having student-athletes ejected for conduct violations during their last regular season game, and/or last play-off game in any sport will be fined & $200.00 per ejection.  This policy became effective with the AISA interscholastic winter sports program during the 1998-99 school year.

WRESTLING GATE PRICES:
Maximum - $3.00 Adults / $2.00 Students
Tournaments - $4.00 Adults / $2.00 Students

BASKETBALL
There will be a $25.00 fine if the coordinator is not notified two weeks in advance of a change in your basketball schedule.  This will be paid to the coordinator.  This will take effect on December 4, 2000.

Attention Basketball Coaches - Call your game results into the Montgomery Advertiser at 1-800-488-3579, The Birmingham News at 1-800-283-4024, and/or your local media. Try to get scores on the wire service.

ATTENTION BASKETBALL COACHES:

Ron Ingram of the Birmingham News requests that you call your games in on a regular basis and update him every Monday a.m.  He needs your record, scores, etc. for state ranking and outstanding player purposes.

OFFICIALS' PAY:  
Any six (6) minute quarter game - $22.00 per official 
Any eight (8) minute quarter game - $30.00 per official
Mileage - Twenty-five (25) cents per mile for one car (both ways) will be paid.
NOTE:  Unless a special assignment is being worked, mileage will be held to a maximum of $50.00

BASKETBALL GATE PRICES:
AISA Maximum charges for admission to AISA basketball games are:

Varsity - $4.00 Adults / $2.00 Students
Below Varsity - $2.00 Adults / $2.00 Students
Varsity Tournaments - $4.00 Adults / $2.00 Students
Jr. High Tournaments - $3.00 Adults / $2.00 Students

ATTENTION BASKETBALL COACHES AND AD'S:
AISA Policy - The following procedure will be followed by all AISA schools when four or more basketball games are scheduled on a game day/night:

Pee Wee play - finish by 3:50 p.m.

Junior High girls - start at 4:00 p.m. - allow 4 minutes only for halftime. If 2nd half starts after the half hour, then limit 3rd and 4th quarters to 5 minutes each.

If starting on the hour is a problem, cut warm-ups to a maximum of eight (8) minutes. Note: Policy applies to regulation play only. If overtime occurs, play it out.

THE OFFICIAL BASKETBALL:
The Spalding 1000 wide channel is the adopted basketball that will be used for the state tournament and the All-Star game. Local schools can determine the use of any basketball for their home games as long as it meets the National Federal Rule.

BASEBALL:
Macon-East Montgomery Academy needs baseball and/or softball games between March 26-30.  Call Glynn Lott 277-6566.

ATTENTION GOLF COACHES:
The AISA State Golf Championship will be held on April 30 and May 1, 2001, at Arrowhead Country Club in Montgomery.  The AISA office will put motels and phone numbers for reservations later in the Link.  The Arrowhead Pro Shop number is 1-334-272-7188; 272-7180.

The AISA State Golf Tournament will play the next three years on the Robert Trent Jones Golf Courses.

Policy of the AISA:  Spectators will not be allowed to use golf carts at the State Golf Tournament.

Dear Coach,

    The Fifteenth Annual Marion Military Institute Independent School Invitational Golf Tournament will be played on Thursday, April 5, 2001.  The tournament will begin at 8:30 a.m.  Each team  is allowed to enter five players with the low four scores counting after twenty-seven holes of medal play.  The team entry fee is $100.00, which includes the price of a noon meal.

    Please fill out this form and return it to the school by December 20, 2000.  The tournament will be limited to the first eighteen teams to enter.

    Additional information will be mailed to the participating teams by March 12, 2001.
