STATE DRAMA FESTIVAL:

Attention: Drama Sponsors

The STATE DRAMA FESTIVAL will be held on JANUARY 25, 2002, beginning at 9:00 a.m. at FAULKNER UNIVERSITY.
The AISA office must receive the State entry form at least ten days prior to January 25th (by January 15th). Drama
teachers, please read rules carefully. There are changes from last year (changes on pages 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, & 18.

Deadline: State Entry Form is due no later than January 15, 2002.
Remember: Please make sure that you use the new forms. There are four performance categories this year instead
of six.

Lunch: Students are to remain on site for lunch. We will eat lunch in the designated competition areas. We will have
sack lunches provided by Faulkner University. Schools will be billed after the festival for the lunches (cost $5.00). It is
very important that you request the number of lunches that you need for your school. Write this request on the Drama
Entry form. Do not forget to include students, chaperones/parents and sponsors.

Junior High Competition (Grades 7-9) will be held in Faulkner University's Fine Arts Building beginning immediately at 9:00 a.m.

Senior High Competition (Grades 10-12) will be held in the Faulkner University's Rotunda Building beginning immediately at 9:00 a.m.

ATTENTION STATE BOARD MEMBERS:
The AISA STATE BOARD MEETING scheduled for January 12, 2002 has been re- scheduled for February 2, 2002. Please note
this change on your schedule.

CONGRATULATIONS:
Congratulations to Crenshaw Christian Academy, home of Crenshaw and Butler County's Junior Misses. Lauren Lynn Lester and
Lauren Williams.

HALL OF FAME:
Hall of Fame nominations must be into the AISA office by January 21, 2002.

HEADMASTERS:
Please make sure appropriate personnel have copies of information in the Academic Handbook pertaining to academic competitions,
festivals, and fairs.

PROFESSIONAL PERSONNEL REPORTS:
All responses to professional personnel deficiencies are due in the AISA office by February 1, 2002. Please send documentation
with your response. Documentation includes teacher's certificates, transcripts, etc.

Please refer to the AISA Accreditation Manual for personnel standards.

GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS FOR STANDARD DIPLOMA:
Accounting I may be used as one of the four math credits for the AISA standard High School Graduation Diploma. Please refer
to page 61, AISA Accreditation Manual.

A Blue Ribbon school exemplifies excellence in teaching, student performance, school life, and school and community interaction.

CHECKLIST FOR SAT9 PREPARATION A checklist which was published in 1998-1999 by the State Department of Education in the Alabama Education News has been modified and supplemented in developing this suggest guide for AISA teachers. Please remember that ALL OF US must assume responsibility for ensuring that every skill that is tested has been TAUGHT before testing!	Yes/ No
1. I have a positive attitude regarding SAT/OLSAT testing, and model this attitude for my class.	___ ___
2. Specific SAT objectives are worked into my lesson plans and into my "working paper" curriculum guides. Therefore, I have ensured, through my short range and long range plans, that all skills that are to be tested this April will be taught for mastery before the testing date.	___ ___

ATTENTION HEADMASTERS AND ATHLETIC DIRECTORS:
The Alabama State Legislation passed a bill (Senate No. 16) in December that will punish people who assault our "Sports Officials".
Sports Officials include game officials, game coaches and game Administrators at all levels of play involving youth leagues, high school,
college and professional events.

Please advise your local boards and all your fans, students, and Athletic Supporters.

ATHLETIC COMMITTEE MEETING:
The AISA Athletic Committee will meet on Wednesday, January 9, 2002, at 10:00 a.m. in the AISA Office.

ATTENTION HEADMASTERS AND ATHLETIC DIRECTORS:
Sportsmanship must become a priority at every AISA school. Stress the qualities of good sportsmanship to your coaches, players,
and fans. Appoint a game monitor or handle it yourself.

and Huntingdon College

G. No artificial noise makers can be used during the course of the basketball game. A pep band or cheerleader group
may be used on the court only during the time which the ball is not in play, such as time-out, between quarters, and at
half-time.

THE OFFICIAL BASKETBALL:
The Nike 2000 NFHS Touch is the adopted basketball that will be used for the state tournament and the All-Star game.
Local schools can determine the use of any basketball for their home games as long as it meets the National Federation
Rules.

STATE WRESTLING TOURNAMENT:
The State Wrestling Tournament will be held at Marion Military Institute on January 26, 2002 at Marion Military Institute.
Admission is $5.00. The State Wrestling Tournament Seed Meeting will be held in the AISA office at 10:00 a.m. on
January 23, 2002. All wrestling coaches must be present.
