ADMINISTRATION NOTES

ANNUAL MEETING REMINDER:

Please be reminded that your school must be represented at the Annual Meeting on Wednesday, July 26, 2000. The meeting convenes at 10:00 a.m. in Smith Hall on the Huntingdon College Campus.

REMINDER TO SCHOOLS VISITED FOR AISA ACCREDITATION IN 1999-2000:
Some schools that were visited for accreditation in 1999-2000 have provided documentation to clear Priorities and written responses to the Recommendations of the Visiting Committee; however, many schools have not yet provided responses and documentation. Priorities must be cleared and responses to Recommendations must be provided by August 31, 2000.

2000-2001 CALENDARS ARE REQUESTED:
Please supply the AISA office with a copy of your school calendar as soon as it is completed. Thanks for those that have already been sent to us!

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT DAY UPDATE:
"Continuing the Tradition of Excellence in the New Millennium" is the theme selected by the Professional Development Day Planning Committee for this year's conference on Monday, October 2, 2000. The Committee had an excellent meeting recently under the leadership of Mrs. Barbara Lindsey, Chairperson. If you have suggestions for sessions, presenters, or exhibitors, call the AISA office or Mrs. Lindsey at Abbeville Christian.

LESSON PLANNING: A TOP PRIORITY:
In considering ways to continue to improve our AISA schools, specific and detailed lesson planning has surfaced as a need with many teachers. The routine planning to address objectives (general lesson and specific SAT) and the careful preparation to teach content and skills to attain the objectives must receive priority attention, if higher levels of excellence are attained in our schools.

AISA is recommending that loose-leaf binders be used for lesson plans instead of the planning books with the small blocks of spaces for plans. A suggested Lesson Plan Format was enclosed with the LINK of June 26. Please consider seriously the use of this or a similar format at your school this year. With consistency and specificity in planning (including careful attention to SAT skills), learning should increase, and test scores should rise!
