PRESIDENTS' AWARD WINNERS ANNOUNCED:

Three schools emerged from strong competition to win the coveted Presidents' 
Award in Class A, AA, and AAA in AISA for 2000-2001.  Congratulations are extended

LETTER FROM THE STATE OF ALABAMA DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH


PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT DAY UPDATE:
The Professional Development Day Planning Committee met on Thursday, June 14, at 10:00 a.m. The next meeting will be held on Wednesday, July 25th at 1:00 p.m. at Huntingdon College, Massey Hall, (3rd floor).  If you have suggestions for Sessions, presenters, or exhibitors for the October 1 Professional Development Day, please contact Don Oswald at the AISA office.  We want your input!

ATTENTION HEADMASTERS: WANTED! - BLUE RIBBON SCHOOLS

A Blue Ribbon school exemplifies excellence in teaching, student performance, school life, and school and community interaction. A Blue Ribbon Award will be given by the AISA to schools that meet certain criteria.  Applications will only be accepted through the 1st semester for 2001-2002 school year.

ATHLETIC DIRECTOR NOTES


ATTENTION ATHLETIC COMMITTEE:
The Athletic Committee is scheduled to meet in the AISA office at 10:00 a.m. on July 18, 2001.

PHYSICAL EXAMINATION FOR ALL AISA ATHLETES/CHEERLEADERS:
Refer to Physical Exam Form and Medical History Form in the Appendix of your AISA Athletic Handbook.  Call the AISA office if you have questions.

VOLLEYBALL:

Evangel will be playing volleyball this year in the AISA.  They will be in East Area 2 in Class A for 2001.

BASKETBALL, BASEBALL AND SOFTBALL:

Evangel will be playing basketball, baseball, and softball in the AISA in 2001-2002 school year.  They will play in East Area I in these sports.

ATTENTION COACHES:
You can attend only one team camp with your players.  There is no restriction on individual camps.

ATTENTION AD'S AND CHEERLEADER COACHES:

July 16-19 - East Cheerleader Clinic - Huntingdon College
July 23-26 - West Cheerleader Clinic - Huntingdon College

FOOTBALL:

ATTENTION FOOTBALL COACHES/AD'S:
a.  First day of organized varsity football practice - July 27, 2001
b.  First 5 days of practice - no contact drills.
c.  Get your scrimmage and/or jamboree sanctioned.
d.  Review your varsity schedule for errors.
e.  Contact the AISA office if any changes are made in your varsity schedule.
f.  See you July 19-20 at the Governors House Hotel, Montgomery.

FOOTBALL COACHES:
Mail your drop-game to the AISA office before your first regular season game.  If you have an open date, Cottage Hill or Evangel, or a school on your schedule that is not an AISA member, then this will be your drop game.  (Page 26, Athletic Handbook)

AISA FOOTBALL OFFICIALS:
Attention AISA employees, we need football officials.  You are eligible to work as an AISA game official.  Call the AISA office for more information.

FOOTBALL RULES CLINIC:
The AISA Football Rules Clinic will be held on July 20, 2001, at the Coaches Meeting.  Attendance at an AISA sponsored Rules Clinic is required.  This Clinic will be given by Mr. Rennie Mills of the Montgomery Officials Association.

REQUIRED COACHES' MEETING:
  (July 19-20)
AISA
Required Coaches' Meeting is scheduled for July 19-20, 2001.  This meeting will 
be held at the Governors House Hotel on East South Boulevard in Montgomery.  Make your plans to attend.  The Governors House Hotel has given the AISA Coaches a special buy this year.  Make reservations by July 12, 2001 for $50.00 a room.  After this date room rates will be $72.00 a room.  Call 1-800-334-8459 or 288-2800 and ask for the AISA rate.  A $100.00 fine will be assessed to schools for failure to have a representative present on July 20.  The golf scramble will be at Montgomery National Golf Club (Oak Hills).  Agenda and registration information will follow under separate cover.

Paul's Baseball has been adopted for the 2001-2002 school year.
