ORATORICAL CONTEST
REMINDER:
The Alabama
Independent School Association (AISA) held its annual State Oratorical Contest
on November 9, 2000, in Flowers Hall at Huntingdon College in Montgomery,
Alabama. District winners from eight AISA districts competed for first,
second, and third place awards. All speakers addressed the topic,
"The Impact of Technology on the Typical American Family," in prepared
speeches that ranged from six to eight minutes in length.

Congratulations
to Captain Richard Sumner (son of Mr. & Mrs. Buddy Sumner - Wilcox Academy)
for being the Most Outstanding Student in his Air Force Training Class.
Captain Sumner was awarded the Air Education and Training Command Commander's
Trophy for his efforts. Captain Sumner also earned the only slot available
as an F-15 pilot. Mr. & Mrs. Sumner, we are proud of Richard.

The AISA Hall of Fame Banquet and Induction Ceremony will be held on March 5,
2001 at the Civic Center in Montgomery. Nominees must be into the AISA Office by

this excellent program. Recognize and honor your extraordinary leaders, alumni
and/or contributors by placing their names in nomination.

AISA ATHLETIC POLICY:
Attention Football Coaches! Last Game Policy: Schools having
student-athletes ejected for conduct violations during their last regular season
game, and/or last play-off game in any sport will be fined $200.00 per
ejection. This policy became effective with the AISA interscholastic
winter sports program during the 1998-1999 school year.

ATTENTION BASKETBALL COACHES:
There will be a $25.00 fine if the coordinator is not notified two weeks in
advance of a change in your basketball schedule. This will be paid to the
coordinator. This will take effect on December 4, 2000.

ATTENTION
BASKETBALL COACHES AND AD'S:
AISA Policy -
The following procedure will be followed by all AISA schools when four or more
basketball games are scheduled on a game day/night:
Pee Wee play - finish by 3:50 p.m.
Junior High girls - start at 4:00 p.m. - allow 4 minutes only for halftime. If 2nd half starts after the half hour, then limit 3rd and 4th quarters to 5 minutes each.
If starting on the hour
is a problem, cut warm-ups to a maximum of eight (8) minutes. Note: Policy
applies to regulation play only. If overtime occurs, play it out.
THE OFFICIAL
BASKETBALL:
The Spalding
1000 wide channel is the adopted basketball that will be used for the state
tournament and the All-Star game. Local schools can determine the use of any
basketball for their home games as long as it meets the National Federal Rule.
