FACULTY ACCOMPLISHMENTS:
Pickens Academy:
This
November Connie Marine Gibson of Pickens Academy will depart for Tokyo, Japan as
a participant in the Fullbright Memorial Fund (FMF) Teacher Program. Ms. Gibson,
who is Assistant Headmaster and English teacher at Pickens Academy, was selected
from a national pool of over 2,000 applicants by a panel of educators to earn
this honor. This program allows distinguished primary and secondary school
teachers in the U.S. to travel to Japan for three weeks in an effort to promote
greater intercultural understanding between the two nations.
Abbeville Christian Academy:
Mrs. Lisa Trawick of Abbeville Christian Academy has been selected as a
"Teacher Feature, WTVY News 4 Teacher of the Week." Mrs. Trawick
is the 5 year old Kindergarten teacher at ACA and was one of thirteen chosen for
this honor from a field of fifty-four teachers in the Wiregrass area.

Abbeville Christian Academy:
Misty Bell of Abbeville Christian Academy has received a Letter of
Commendation from the National Merit Scholarship Program.
Abbeville Christian Academy:
John Lindsey, Senior at Abbeville Christian Academy, has been selected as
a Wendy's High School Heisman Award, State Finalist. He, along with the
other 19 state finalists, will be recognized on October 28th, at Visionland.

CONGRATULATIONS:
Congratulations to Captain Richard Sumner (son of Mr. & Mrs. Buddy Sumner -
Wilcox Academy) for being the Most Outstanding student in his Air Force Training
Class. Captain Sumner was awarded the Air Education and Training Command
Commander's Trophy for his efforts. Captain Sumner also earned the only
slot available as an F-15 pilot. Mr. & Mrs. Sumner we are proud of
Richard.

The AISA Hall of Fame Banquet and Induction Ceremony will be held on March 5,
2001 at the Civic Center in Montgomery. Nominees must be into the AISA Office by
January 5, 2001. Call the AISA for an official Nomination Form. Let's support
this excellent program. Recognize and honor your extraordinary leaders, alumni
and/or contributors by placing their name in nomination.

ORATORICAL CONTESTS:
District
Contests are scheduled for November 2, and the State contest will be held on
November 9. This year's topic is: "The Impact of TECHNOLOGY on The American
Family." We anticipate great participation. The state contest will be held
in Flowers Chapel on the Huntingdon College campus. 9:30 a.m. Registration
Competition will begin at 10:00 a.m.
IMPORTANT!
Schools that are hosting District Oratorical Contests are requested to FAX the
names of winners to the AISA office (334-263-9195), as soon as the district
competition is completed. (See the Academic Handbook). Contestants, their
families, teachers, and administrators are invited. Appropriate Attire:
"Sunday clothes."

COMMITTEE:
The All
Star Football Player Selection Committee will meet in the AISA office at 10:00
a.m. on November 8,
2000. Read pages 31-32 in the AISA Athletic Handbook to determine committee
membership.
ATTENTION
FOOTBALL COACHES:
The
American General Player of the Year Banquet has been changed from November 28 to
December 4, 2000.
FOOTBALL PLAY-OFF MEETING SCHEDULED:
Teams who advance in the Playoffs in Football; send someone to the AISA
office by noon on Monday November 6 to pick up your tickets for the next game.
ATTENTION AD'S, FOOTBALL PLAY-OFF TICKET FORMAT:
a. The AISA
will provide printed tickets for the visiting team.
b. The visiting team may request tickets in multiples of 100.
c. The visiting team will pay the AISA office $50.00 per 100 tickets requested.
d. Each Playoff team is required to buy 100 tickets.
e. The visiting team will keep all monies earned from their ticket sale.
f. The visiting team will receive no money from the gate.
g. Home team will be furnished rolls of tickets to be sold at the game. All
tickets can be
picked
up on November 6.

COACHES AND AD'S:
AISA Policy
- The following procedure will be followed by all AISA schools when four or more
basketball games are scheduled on a game day/night:
Pee Wee play - finish by 3:50 p.m.
Junior High girls - start at 4:00 p.m. - allow 4 minutes only for halftime. If 2nd half starts after the half hour, then limit 3rd and 4th quarters to 5 minutes each.
If starting on the hour
is a problem, cut warm-ups to a maximum of eight (8) minutes. Note: Policy
applies to regulation play only. If overtime occurs, play it out.
THE
OFFICIAL BASKETBALL:
The
Spalding 1000 wide channel is the adopted basketball that will be used for the
state tournament and the All-Star game. Local schools can determine the use of
any basketball for their home games as long as it meets the National Federal
Rule.
