GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS


PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT DAY UPDATE:  NEXT MONDAY IS THE DAY!
"Raising the Bar of Academic Performance" is the theme selected by the Professional Development Day Planning Committee for this year's conference on Monday, October 1, 2001.  The Committee and Teacher Leaders met recently under the leadership of Mr. David Weir, Chairperson, to finalize plans for the "Big Day" on October 1.  Dr. John Ed Mathison, Senior Pastor, Frazer Memorial Methodist Church, will give the keynote address.

Packets will be available at the Registration Desk for Headmasters (or Designees) to pick up early.  Each school packet contains programs, certificates, and name tags for all registered participants from that school.  The Registration Desk will open at 7:00 a.m. and the Opening Session will start promptly at 9:15 a.m.  

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT DAY:

1.  Teachers of the Year - Please sit in the front of audience during the Opening Sessions.  You will be recognized.

2.  Chairman and President Award winners (Headmasters) will be recognized.  Last years winners need to bring the plaques to the PD day.

3.  PDD Committee - please sit in the front during the Opening Session.  You will be recognized.

PARKING FOR PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT DAY:
Headmasters are requested to form car pools to reduce the number of spaces required for AISA personnel on October 1.  Please be reminded that there is parking available behind the Embassy Suites Hotel.

PDD EXHIBITORS:
Over 100 vendors and/or organizations committed to exhibit on October 1.  Please visit their exhibits, and use their goods and services.  They are are supporters.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT DAY LODGING:

Holiday Inn Group Rate of $69.00 for a king or double plus lodging tax (currently 11%).  Cut-off date is September 17, 2001.  Check-in time is 2:00 p.m. and check-out time is 12:00 noon.  Breakfast is included in the rate.  Please call Holiday Inn directly at 334-264-2231 or fax: 334-263-3179.  Group Rate is under A.I.S.A. Group name.

REMINDER TO SCHOOLS VISITED FOR AISA ACCREDITATION IN 2000-2001:
Some schools that were visited for accreditation in 2000-2001 have not provided documentation to clear Priorities and written responses to the Recommendations of the Visiting Committee.  Priorities must be cleared and responses to Recommendations must be provided by August 31, 2001.

ATTENDANCE REPORTS ARE DUE MONTHLY.

ORATORICAL CONTESTS:
District contests are scheduled for November 1, and the state contest on November 8.  This year's topic is: "The Influence of the ENTERTAINMENT Industry on Today's Society."  We anticipate great anticipation.

ATTENTION FOOTBALL COACHES:
Some of our schools are not meeting our Football Officials nor saving them a parking space.  
Have someone meet them and show them their dressing room and make sure they have a safe exit.


ATTENTION FOOTBALL COACHES:
Call 1-800-428-6633 after the game on Friday nights - report scores - state wide publicity.  Scores will be 
posted on The Spy's Web site.  Thanks - promote your program.

FOOTBALL COACHES:
All teams in the playoffs need to bring with them to the State Meeting on October 27, 2001 a team picture, roster, and a picture of their cheerleaders with a list of their names.

October 1 - WINTER SPORTS PRACTICE MAY BEGIN.

ADMISSION PRICES:
The following are AISA maximum gate prices:
Varsity Football - $4.00/person
Below Varsity Football - $2.00/person - one game and $3.00/person - multiple games.
Volleyball - $3.00/person

ATTENTION COACHES:

The AISA will use the Nike inflated football and basketball in all AISA sponsored  championship games.  
The Nike football will be used in the Triple-Header at Troy State University this year.  The Nike basketball 
will be used for championship basketball games at Wallace Junior College, Faulkner University, and 
Huntingdon College 

TUSCALOOSA ACADEMY
needs Junior High football games on September 25 and October 17.

FOOTBALL STATS:  Make sure they are in the AISA office by noon on Wednesday.
To participate in the AISA Football Stats, a team must submit information weekly to the AISA 
office to the attention of Don Hand.  Start with the first game, and stay current, if you want 
your stats published.  If you have a question, call the office.

EJECTION RULE:
AD's and Coaches, please review the AISA ejection rule with your players and coaches.  
Refer. Rule XIII on page 6 of the AISA Athletic Handbook.

PUBLICITY:
Attention Football Coaches - Call your game results into the Montgomery Advertiser at 1-800-488-3579, 
The Birmingham News at 1-800-283-4024, and/or  your local media.  Try to get scores on the wire service.

ATTENTION AD'S, PLAN AHEAD:
The participation format for the following State Tournament is as follows:

Final Four Basketball Tournament
February 14 & 15 - Class A schools
February 15 & 16 - Class AAA schools
February 14 -  16 - Class AA schools

Final Four Baseball Tournament
May 8 & 9 - Class AA schools
May 9 & 10 - Class A schools
May 10 & 11 - Class AAA schools

West Regionals will be held in Selma on February 8 - 9.
East Regionals will be held at Faulkner University in Montgomery on February.


BASKETBALL:
Patrician Academy needs two teams for tournament December 17 - 18.  
Call Wendell Barr at (205) 459-3266.

ATTENTION BASKETBALL COACHES:
There will be a Basketball Rules Clinic after the coaches meeting.  All schools are required to attend.  AISA will distribute rule books and other important information.

ATTENTION WRESTLING COACHES:
All wrestling coaches should plan to attend the scheduling meeting on October 22, 2001 in the AISA office at 10:00 a.m.  Be prepared to build your regular season and tournament schedule.

SOFTBALL:
Patrician Academy needs teams for softball tournament March 8-9.  $100.00 entry fee includes t-shirts.

VOLLEYBALL:
Faith Academy will host the State Jr. High Volleyball Tournament on October 20, 2001.  The top eight teams (won/lost pct.) will qualify.  Records must be called in to Woodie Head at 251-633-7267 by October 11.

WILCOX ACADEMY is looking for two varsity Basketball teams (Boys and Girls) to play in the Wilcox Invitational Tournament on December 14 & 15 in Camden.  Call 334-682-9619 and speak to Coach Sumner or Coach Burford.
