AISA HALL OF FAME - Banquet and Induction Ceremony will be on March 10, 2003.

contributions to your school and/or the Association.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT DAY UPDATE:  OCTOBER 7th
"Teaching Tomorrow's Leaders Today" is the theme selected by the Professional Development Day Planning Committee
for this year's conference on Monday, October 7, 2002.  Mark Brown, motivational speaker, Reader's Digest, will give the
keynote address.

Packets will be available at the Registration Desk for Headmasters (or Designees) to pick up early.  Each school packet
contains programs, certificates, and name tags for all registered participants from that school.  The Registration Desk will
open at 7:00 a.m. and the Opening Session will start promptly at 9:00 a.m. 

WORKSHOP ADDED:
B-17 "Secondary Art Activities" led by Dena Tucker, Southern Academy.  Secondary Art teachers may attend
this workshop on Professional Development Day.  You do not need to pre register for this workshop. 

PARKING FOR PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT DAY:
Headmasters are requested to form car pools to reduce the number of spaces required for AISA personnel on October 7.  Please be reminded that there is parking available behind the Embassy Suites Hotel.

PDD EXHIBITORS:
Over 100 vendors and/or organizations committed to exhibit on October 7.  Please visit their exhibits, and use their goods and services.  They are are supporters.

ATTENTION TEACHERS:
Ms. Suzanne Davis is asking teachers who signed up for Session # A-4 "Make It, Take It, and Use It"  to bring 50 copies of an art project to Professional
Development Day. 

IMPORTANT: Workshop A-4 "Make It, Take It, and Use It"
There will only be enough materials for one per school.

ACADEMIC NOTES

COMPENDIUM OF INSTRUCTIONAL OBJECTIVES:
Headmasters: It is time to ensure teachers have incorporated all objectives that are tested on Stanford 9 into
their Courses of Study and into their lesson plans.  Please be sure that the two copies of the Compendium of Instructional
Objectives for Stanford 9 have been located at your school, and that teachers are using them in planning for teaching.
Skills and objectives tested at a given grade level need to be introduced the year before testing, and taught for mastery
(reviewed) the year of testing (before April). 

ADMINISTRATIVE COORDINATORS FOR DISTRICT COMPETITION:
We will need to receive information concerning district academic competition, leadership, and district competition sites,
as soon as possible.  Forms were provided to you at the annual meeting.  The nine districts are the same as last year. 

STATE AISA ORATORICAL CONTESTS:
This year's topic is: "9-11: The Aftermath".  Huntingdon College, Flowers Hall, November 12, 2002.  District Competition 11-5-02.

The AISA highly recommends that our schools pay tribute to the 9-11 tragedy in New York
before game time or at half-time.

Get your Football Stats in by Wednesday - noon every week.  Send the Cumulative Total Sheet in.   Keep
the offense and defense stats in your file in case we ask for them.  Send only players who may be in the

PEE-WEE FOOTBALL JAMBOREE:
Any teams interested in participating in a Pee-Wee Football Jamboree on Saturday, November 2, 2002 can
call coach Freeman at Bessemer Academy.  There is limited spaces available so please call ASAP if

COTTAGE HILL CHRISTIAN ACADEMY (Mobile) is hosting a Basketball Tournament Friday and Saturday,
December 13-14, 2002.  Three teams have already committed, we are looking for a fourth.  If interested,

CROSS COUNTRY:
DUE TO THE PARK BEING PREVIOUSLY BOOKED, THE CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIP MEET HAS BEEN MOVED FROM NOVEMBER 2, 2002 TO
OCTOBER 31, 2002 AT 3:30 p.m.  Escambia Academy will be hosting an invitational cross country championship meet at Municipal Park in Mobile on Thursday,
October 31, 2002, beginning at 3:30 p.m.  The meet will be run under the National High School standards.  The contact person will be Bert Rice at 251-294-0175.  Escambia, Cottage Hill, Faith, Tuscaloosa and Mobile Christian will be participating so-far in this meet.  If you are interested, call Bert Rice ASAP.

ATTENTION ATHLETIC COMMITTEE:
The Athletic Committee is scheduled to meet in the AISA office at 10:00 a.m. on October 9, 2002.

VOLLEYBALL:

The Final 4 Volleyball Tournament will be held on November 2, 2002 at Faulkner University. 

ATTENTION SOCCER, BASEBALL, & SOFTBALL COACHES:

Trinity Christian of Opelika, AL would like to play soccer, Baseball and Softball schedules for
the 2002-2003 school year.  If you need games call Sharon Miller at 1-334-745-2464. 

Patrician Academy is hosting a Softball Tournament March 7-8, 2002.  If interested, call Coach Barr at 205-459-3266.

Wrestling:

There will be a Wrestling meeting on October 23, 2002 at 10:00 a. m. in the AISA Office. 

October 7, 2002 - Winter Sports May Begin

November 9, 2002 - The All-Star Volleyball game will be held at Fort Dale in Greenville on November 9. 

November 22, 2002 - Triple-Header Championship Football Game in Troy on November 22.  AAA will play 1st - 1A will play
second and AA will play the last game.
