PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT DAY UPDATE:
"Teaching Tomorrow's Leaders Today" is the theme selected by
the Professional Development Day Planning Committee for this year's conference
on
Monday, October 7, 2002. The Committee had an excellent meeting
recently under the leadership of Mr. David Weir, Chairperson.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT DAY:
The Professional Development Day Registration materials have been sent
out. The Professional Development Day Registration Form is due in the AISA
Office by Thursday, September 5. Please be sure to register by SESSION
NUMBER. Also, it will be helpful if participants' names and choices of
sessions are typed or printed clearly to facilitate our making name tags.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT DAY REGISTRATION:
Headmasters, please make sure that your teachers go to a variety of workshops.
It would be good for your school to have your teachers visit as many workshop
sessions as possible in order to get information and handouts on a variety of
topics. They could then bring them back to your school and share with
others.
PARKING FOR PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT DAY:
Headmasters are requested to form car pools to reduce the number of spaces
required for AISA personnel on October 7. Please be reminded that there is
parking available behind the Embassy Suites Hotel.
PDD EXHIBITORS:
Over 100 vendors and/or organizations committed to exhibit on October
7. Please visit their exhibits, and use their goods and services.
They are are supporters.
HEADMASTERS:
Please make sure appropriate personnel have copies of information in the
Academic Handbook pertaining to academic competitions,
festivals, and fairs.
ATHLETIC PASSES:
Reminder
- No passes will be issued to schools until all 2001-2002 arrears have
been cleared.

REMINDER TO SCHOOLS VISITED FOR AISA ACCREDITATION IN
2001-2002: DUE DATE:
HAS PASSED
Some schools that were visited for accreditation in 2001-2002 have provided
documentation to clear Priorities and written
responses to the Recommendations of the Visiting Committee; however, many
schools have not yet provided responses
and documentation. Priorities must be cleared and responses to
Recommendations must be provided by August 30, 2002.
2002-2003 CALENDARS ARE REQUESTED:
Please supply the AISA office with a copy of your school calendar
now.

Annual Registration of Private Schools to the State Department
of Education do so now. All AISA schools must be

ACADEMIC NOTES
COMPENDIUM OF INSTRUCTIONAL OBJECTIVES:
Headmasters: It is time to ensure teachers have incorporated all objectives
that are tested on Stanford 9 into
their Courses of Study and into their lesson plans. Please be sure that
the two copies of the Compendium of Instructional
Objectives for Stanford 9 have been located at your school, and that teachers
are using them in planning for teaching.
Skills and objectives tested at a given grade level need to be introduced the
year before testing, and taught for mastery
(reviewed) the year of testing (before April).
ADMINISTRATIVE COORDINATORS FOR DISTRICT COMPETITION:
We will need to receive information concerning district academic competition,
leadership, and district competition sites,
as soon as possible. Forms were provided to you at the annual meeting.
The nine districts are the same as last year.
COUNCIL MEETING - September 4, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. in the AISA Office.
ORATORICAL CONTESTS:
This year's topic is: "9-11: The Aftermath".
Huntingdon College, Flowers Hall, 11-5-02
SGA FALL WORKSHOP SET:
The SGA Fall Workshop will be held at Huntingdon College on Tuesday, September
17, 2002. Registration will be from 9:30 until 10:00 a.m. in the lobby of
Flowers Hall. The $75.00 annual SGA dues will be collected at the
Registration Table. The meeting will called to order promptly at
10:00 a.m. and will conclude by noon. Important district meetings will be
included in the program. Each SGA sponsor may bring the 2002-2003 officers
to the workshop (up to 10 people, including the sponsor). Appropriate
attire for participants will be jeans and tee-shirts (or other clothing that is
normally worn to school). Tee-shirts with the school or SGA will be great,
but not required. Information will be given about Statewide Can-a-thon, a
new service project, "Sacks for Soldiers", and we will share ideas for our
upcoming school year.
ACCREDITATION / SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT
PROCESS WORKSHOP -
SEPTEMBER 4, 2002 from 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. in the Stallworth Room located
inside Russell Hall. (Bring $5.00 if you desire lunch at 12:00)
*All schools who will be visited this year for accreditation need to have one
person (administrator or Accreditation Chair to attend).

BEEN MOVED FROM NOVEMBER 2, 2002 TO
OCTOBER 31, 2002 AT 3:30 p.m.
Escambia Academy
will be hosting an invitational cross country championship meet
at Municipal Park in Mobile on Thursday,
October 31, 2002, beginning at 3:30 p.m.
The meet will be run under the National
High School standards. The contact person will be Bert Rice at
251-294-0175. Escambia, Cottage Hill, Faith, Tuscaloosa and Mobile Christian will be participating so-far in this meet. If you are
interested, call Bert Rice ASAP.
ATTENTION ATHLETIC COMMITTEE:
The Athletic Committee is scheduled to meet in the AISA office at 10:00 a.m. on
September 4, 2002.
TENNIS:
Tennis Coaches Meeting: September 10, 2002
at 10:00 a.m. in the AISA office to schedule games for 2003-2004.
VOLLEYBALL:
The Final 4 Volleyball Tournament will be held on November
2, 2002.
ATTENTION SOCCER, BASEBALL, & SOFTBALL COACHES:
Trinity Christian of Opelika, AL would like to play soccer,
Baseball and Softball schedules for
