The Alabama Stock Market Game (SMG) is an exciting and educational classroom stock trading experience. The Alabama SMG is open to grades 4-12. SMG is brought to you by the Alabama Council on Economic Education.

REQUIREMENTS FOR PARTICIPATION

  • To participate in the INTERNET VERSION of the SMG program you will need the following :
    1. Access to a computer with an active internet connection
    2. Familiarity with the Internet and your computer.
    3. An active email account that you check daily (teacher and team IDs and passwords will be e-mailed to this address, as well as important announcements during the game).
    4. Microsoft Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator
    5. Adobe Acrobat Reader 4.0 or above
    6. School must be in Alabama.
    7. Attendance at a training workshop is highly recommended, but not mandatory.
  • PLEASE NOTE: Registrations with invalid email addresses will automatically be deleted.

    TEAM FEES AND PAYMENT

    • Team Price: $15 per team
    • 10% discount for 5 or more teams per teacher: $13.50 per team
    • Payment must be received by the end of Week (6)Six.

    All PARTICIPATING teachers must register online under their own names so each will receive his/her own full set of materials and periodic mailings.

    If you have not received your IDs and passwords within two days after you perform the pre-registration, please contact the SMG Coordinator immediately.

    PLEASE NOTE: The registration deadline is the end of Week (2)Two of the game. Once the game has begun, registration will not be accepted past end of Week (2)Two of the game.

    The registration fee for the SMG program is $15.00 per team of 1-5 participants and entitles you to the following services. :
    • Team IDs and passwords
    • SMG support materials and guides (Adobe Acrobat Reader 4.0 or above required)
    • Online and phone support (please use the SMG coordinator contact by selecting the Home tab above)
    • Teacher Workshops

    Payments may be made by check or purchase order.

    Payments must be received within 30 days after billing. Any teacher who had not remitted payment within 30 days will not be able to play future games.

    General Rules for the Stock Market Game can be found by clicking the Rules of the Game option on the welcome page of each portfolio and as a menu item on the teacher (advisor) administrative site. Additional rules (See "Participation and Fees" tab for Alabama Stock Market Game Rules and Registration):

    1. Stock Market Game Advisors with outstanding balances or owing payments will not be eligible for competitions and contests associated with the Stock Market Game program until the outstanding debt is paid.
    2. Portfolios must contain a minimum of three (3) transactions during the game period in order to qualify for the portfolio value competition.
    3. Portfolio rankings are updated daily. Portfolio transactions will receive “real-time" pricing.
